Can your multivitamin increase the risk of Alzheimer’s disease?

Many of us want to improve our odds of getting into old age in the best of shapes by using multivitamins. I do it. You probably do it, too. But can your multivitamin increase the risk of Alzheimer’s disease? Recent research focuses on copper, a common ingredient of many multivitamins as a possible suspect in dementia.

“For some time it has been clear that copper toxicity plays a major role in Alzheimer’s disease,” says professor George Brewer, a researcher at University of Michigan.

It all started with Larry Spark’s rabbits. In his West Virginia laboratory Dr. Larry Sparks, a researcher investigating the effect of high cholesterol diet in Alzheimer’s disease (AD), developed an animal model of this disease. He and his team fed rabbits with high-fat diet until they developed AD-like disease (and you thought you had a depressing job!). When he moved his lab to Arizona, to his surprise he found that he no longer was able to induce dementia in his animals. What happened? He maintained the same conditions (same breed of rabbits, identical food etc.). The only change, he realized after some time, was that in West Virginia he used tap water, whereas in Arizona the water was distilled. After experimenting with different substances in water he narrowed it down to a difference in the levels of copper.

But keep in mind: this doesn’t make copper a villain. Copper remains an important trace element; its deficiency can cause as much trouble as its excess. It is a crucial component of many enzymes.

We get 75% of our copper from food such as shellfish, nuts, grains, many fruits and vegetables and chocolate.  It is so-called “organic copper” or copper-1. Over millennia our bodies figured out a safe way of handling it through processing it through liver, which works like a distribution center, sending it to whatever cells may need it.

Then, there is remaining 25%, inorganic copper or copper-2, which we get from water (leached from copper piping) and more recently from supplements.  It slightly differs from copper-1 in that it is unattached to any bigger molecules.  As a result, it shows up in our blood almost immediately after ingestion, as it bypasses the secure channels in liver. What’s more concerning, it can cross through the blood-brain barrier, an important mechanism, which decides which substances can cross safely into the brain.

We have evolved to handle copper-1 safely, but copper-2 is a different matter altogether. Excess of copper-2 in water is a new phenomenon and our organisms don’t have efficient pathways to handle the increased amount of this mineral. But we may be making matters worse by getting even more of copper-2 in our bodies by taking it in form of supplements (almost all copper in supplements and multivitamins is copper-2).

So how does copper affect the brain?  In a nutshell, it increases oxidative stress and beta amyloid plaque formation. Beta amyloid is a protein that forms the plaques, which are hallmark of Alzheimer’s disease.  It is possible that forming the beta amyloid clumps may be body’s way to cope with increased oxidative damage from metals like copper.  But after its role has been fulfilled, the body will try to eliminate excess of beta amyloid. If removal is unsuccessful, as a result beta amyloid will aggregate in plaques, gumming up the work of the neurons.

More recently researchers from University of Rochester found that adding small amounts of copper to water fed to mice has affected that cleanup mechanism.  The blood-brain barrier become leaky, admitting even more copper into the brain circulation.

There is another factor, which can make problems with inorganic copper even worse. You saw it in Larry Spark’s rabbits. It turns out that eating a diet high in red meat and trans fatty acids increases absorption of copper, enough to make a difference in cognition. Perhaps this is just how it works in rats, you wonder. Maybe it was one-off result? Fair point. Alas, no.

Look at the results of this study done on seniors in Chicago. In 2006, Morris and his colleagues published the results of 6 years follow up on over 3700 residents of Chicago, 65 and older. The researchers looked at dietary content of copper and fat and following patients’ memory with four different tests. There was a strong association of memory problems with high copper intake (mostly from vitamin supplements) and fatty diet. In fact, the risk of dementia in people whose copper intake was in the top 20%, was increased six fold (yes, you read that right – six fold!). Interestingly, there was no such correlation in people who avoided saturated and trans fats.

Could this be the key to the increased rate of dementia we have observed in the last 60 years? George Brewer, professor at University of Michigan, and one of the main researchers on copper and brain, thinks that it may be the case. He proposed that the high prevalence of Alzheimer’s disease (20% of those 70 and older and 30% of 80 and above) arose in context of increased affluence in US after WWII, which brought with it diet rich in meat and processed food and widespread use of copper plumbing.

Consider this: the rates of Alzheimer’s disease in undeveloped countries are only a fraction of what we see in US. For instance, in rural India its prevalence in people over 65 is only about 1%. In Nigeria it is even lower, at about 0.5%. Their diet contains much less saturated and trans fats. And there is much less infrastructure in terms of plumbing, copper or otherwise. Now, look at Japan, admittedly a developed country, but with low prevalence of dementia (8%). They have rejected copper plumbing because of concern about its toxicity. But, when Japanese migrate to Hawaii (where use of copper plumbing is as common as in continental US), their rates of Alzheimer’s disease increase to match the rest of the population.

Did you know that over 80% of US households use copper plumbing? Environmental Protection Agency set its “action level” for copper content in water at 1.3 mg/L. But the amount of copper in water that jumpstarted the dementia in Larry Sparks’ rats was less that tenth of that, at 0.12 mg/L. Should we be concerned?

Concerned – yes. Ripping out your copper plumbing? Probably overkill. As this is all rather new, the researchers don’t have enough data to make definite recommendations yet. Here is what I do, as we are all awaiting more conclusive figures:

  • I use copper-free multivitamin. Almost all copper in multivitamins is copper-2, potentially toxic to the brain.
  • I stopped using unlined copper cooking pots, as they may leach some inorganic copper into food, particularly in higher acidity. But here should be no problem with copper cookware lined with ceramic or stainless steel.
  • It seems that dietary copper (copper-1) is safe. I don’t go out of my way to avoid copper-rich foods. However, if concerned, cooking beans and grains will reduce the amount of copper by 50%.
  • I never use hot water tap for cooking. Heat increases corrosive properties of water and with that – copper leaching from the plumbing.
  • For drinking water – I let the faucet run for at least 30 sec. I haven’t been able to find and studies on that and to my knowledge and there is no consensus on how long is enough – I’ve seen numbers anywhere from 15 sec to 5 min. You could use the flush water for watering the plants, washing the dishes etc. to minimize the waste.
  • I use water filter for all drinking and cooking water. Reverse osmosis filter will eliminate 97-98% of copper-2. Activated carbon and ion exchange resins filters, like Brita will work, too.
  • If you have copper pipes, like I do, it may be worthwhile to test the water copper content. A single test (copper only) from local water testing company costs about $ 30.
  • Finally, if you worry about your memory, you may run it by your doctor, and ask to have your serum copper and zinc level tested. Calculate your copper/zinc ratio (divide copper over zinc; make sure they are reported in the same unit, usually μg/dL). Desirable copper/zinc ratio is 0.7-1, but it may increase with age and inflammatory diseases. Should your ratio be above 2, talk to your doctor about zinc supplementation. Don’t do it on your own – there may be some real, irreversible downsides to over supplementing zinc. Splenda – toxic carcinogenic sweetener you should avoid

Non-nutritive sweeteners such as Splenda have become an important part of everyday life and are increasingly used nowadays in a variety of dietary and medicinal products. They provide fewer calories and more intense sweetness than sugar-containing products.

Common artificial sweeteners aspartame, saccharine, sucralose, neotame, and acesulfame-K have received a ‘safe status’ from the FDA. However, they are not so safe, and some of them can be very dangerous. If you are still using artificial sweeteners, you may be slowly killing yourself.

You can find Artificial Sweeteners not only in our food and beverages, but in a variety of other products such as toothpastes, mouthwashes, medicines (often in cough syrup and other OTC), children’s chewable vitamins, chewing gums, diet drinks, a variety of sweets, protein drinks, canned food and many more (literally thousands of products). Sadly, some of these sweeteners are now common contaminant in our tap water.

These agents are claimed to promote weight loss and are promoted as a safe alternative for diabetics. However, research data indicates that artificial sweeteners tend to lead to weight gain, and are not suitable for diabetics at all.

There are plenty of natural healthy products you can use in place of sugar and artificial sweeteners.

You probably heard about aspartame dangers, but let’s take a closer look at dangers of Sucralose:

1. WHAT IS IT AND WHERE YOU CAN FIND IT

Sucralose (Marketed under the name Splenda), 600 times sweeter than sugar – a better alternative to NutraSweet? Not so much.
You can find sucralose in yogurts, protein bars and drinks, frozen desserts, syrups, diet beverages, kettle corn, prepared meals and baked goods such as English muffins (this sweetener is one of the few not so sensitive to heat). Please be careful when purchasing ‘natural healthy’ products as well, because some of them may contain sucralose. I have seen it in chewable vitamins for kids, elderberry tablets and so on, always read the ingredient list carefully.

Splenda has been promoted as a better alternative to refined white sugar and advertised for a long time as “made from sugar, so it tastes like sugar.”

Yes, Sucralose is derived from sugar; however, its preparation involves chlorinating sucrose, changing the structure of the sugar molecules. Yes, chlorine, known carcinogen and one of the most toxic chemicals on the planet. This type of sugar molecule does not occur in the nature, and your body cannot properly metabolize it. Also, your body absorbs Sucralose into your fat cells.

”Sucralose (Splenda) bears more chemical similarity to DDT than it does to sugar.” (According to Dr. Mercola)

2. A BRIEF HISTORY

Splenda has been approved in the United States in 1998. When sucralose was first being considered for approval by the FDA, CSPI objected. The pre-approval test indicated potential toxicity, but again – approved! Pre-approval research in animals showed that sucralose caused shrunken thymus glands (up to 40% shrinkage – important immune system regulator) and enlarged liver and kidneys. Its long-term safety is unknown (but it will NOT be anything good for sure).

In 2013, the Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI) placed Splenda in its “caution” category and had formally recommended that consumers should avoid sucralose altogether. A recent update from 2016 – CSPI Downgrades Sucralose from “Caution” to “Avoid”! This action was an answer for the latest 2016 independent Italian laboratory study, which published extensive research on mice. The study found that sucralose caused leukemia and related blood cancers in male mice.

3. WATER AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONTAMINANT

The artificial sweetener sucralose has recently been shown to be a widespread of contaminant of wastewater, surface water, and groundwater. In fact, sucralose has been found in the U.S. drinking water systems. Recent research found that sucralose has a low rate of removal (11%) in drinking water tested that presently serves 28 million people.
The sweetener was found to be present in:

The source water of 15 out of 19 of drinking water treatment plants tested
The finished water of 13 out of 17 plants, and
In 8 out of 12 water distribution systems.

Sucralose is largely resistant to natural breakdown processes and accumulates in the environment with unknown consequences for human and environmental health.

”Though sucralose does not appear toxic to plant growth, the persistent qualities of sucralose may lead to chronic low-dose exposure with largely unknown consequences for human and environmental health.” Sucralose represents an ecotoxicological contaminant that significantly affects the behavior of animals: “Exposed organisms may diverge from normal behavior, which ultimately can have ecological consequences.”

4. NEGATIVE HEALTH EFFECTS

Splenda can promote migraine headaches, and other reported side effects include muscle aches, stomach cramps and nausea, allergic reactions, bladder issues, skin irritation, dizziness, inflammation, vision problems, neurological problems and much more (including Seizures). Sucralose long-term intake can lead to serious chronic conditions and disorders. There are several testimonials by people from all over the world about The Potential Dangers of Sucralose.

Another study found that sucralose significantly reduced healthy intestinal bacteria (up to 50%!). It also alters gut microflora and mess with your enzymes as well, so it essentially wrecks our immune system. In addition, it increases the pH level in the intestines. This could have a range of consequences, including effects on blood sugar, inflammatory bowel disease and more. In fact, a study says that: “Increased sucralose consumption may explain why Canada has the highest incidence of inflammatory bowel disease in the world.

Unlike aspartame, sucralose does not break down at high temperatures. However, by cooking and baking Splenda a cancer-causing dioxins and dioxin-like compounds are formed.

  • Sucralose is carcinogenic and otherwise toxic in rats.
  • Splenda has possible neurotoxic properties in animals.
  • There is also a possibility of DNA Damage over long term exposure.
  • It has diabetes-promoting effects in human subjects.

”It is like putting a pesticide in your body. And this is at levels of intake erroneously approved by the Food and Drug Administration.” (According to James Turner, the chairman of the national consumer education group Citizens for Health.)

5. BREAST MILK CONCERN

Also, sucralose passes into breast milk at levels high enough to make the milk sweeter. Saccharin, sucralose, and acesulfame-potassium were present in 65% of participants’ milk samples, whereas aspartame was not.
Therefore, pregnant and nursing women should make a special effort to avoid aspartame, ace-K, Sucralose and other artificial sweeteners.

6. SAFETY

Splenda has NEVER been proven safe for human consumption. According to Johnson & Johnson, which markets Splenda, “more than 110 studies conducted over 20 years have proven the safety of sucralose.” You mean the studies which were funded by companies with the sole interest in the product being used and to maximize the profits? Moreover, ”out of these 110 studies, only two were human studies, and the longest one was only four days (and in relation to tooth decay!)” Also, those animal studies reveal plenty of problems such as:

    • Increased male infertility
    • Decreased red blood cells (sign of anemia)
    • Enlarged and calcified kidneys
    • Higher death rate in rabbits

and more..

Long-term effects on humans is a severe issue. If something causes cancer and other serious health problems in rodents in the studies, it is undoubtedly a reason for concern!
CSPI recommends that consumers avoid sucralose.

Let’s take a quick look at few natural alternatives:

  • ORGANIC MAPLE SYRUP
  • ORGANIC COCONUT SUGAR
  • WILD RAW HONEY

some others :
-MOLASSES
-DATE SUGAR
-STEVIA
-MONK FRUIT

From all these natural alternatives, I always recommend the ‘organic version.’ I use only real manuka honey as a sweetener, and if occasionally baking I use coconut sugar (date sugar is good too!), I eat plenty of organic fruits so no need for more unnecessary sugars.

Conclusion:

Sucralose does not seem to be as safe as the FDA is trying to believe us and you should avoid it. Also, keep in mind that Xylitol, Sorbitol, and other sugar alcohols are life-threatening toxins to dogs! Don’t forget that you can find artificial sweeteners not only in our foods and medicine, but in many other products, so switching to ‘raw honey’ alternatives is a critical step, but another major step is to get rid of all the products containing them and look for healthy natural alternatives. With all the toxins, chemicals, and heavy metals everywhere and in almost everything, it is imperative to start slowly eliminating these threats to your health. Also, keep in mind that Splenda is now present in our tap water, so filtering your water with hi-quality filter systems is becoming essential.

Green Bananas – 14 Incredible Health Benefits

Green bananas, also known as unripe bananas, are bitter in taste (due to high tannin contents), hard to peel, and has starchy flavor, all of which make them unpalatable.

To reduce the bitterness and starchy flavor, you can steam, boil or fry them before consumption.

Green bananas are rich in starch contents, roughly half of which are resistant starches. Resistant starches are insoluble fibers that resist digestion by small intestinal microbiota but get fermented by colonic microbiota.

Besides beneficial resistant starches bananas also offer pectin, which is a soluble fiber that gets fermented by the colonic microbiota.

The fermentation yields short-chain fatty acids that include acetate, propionate, and butyrate. The latter is said to feed the microbiota and used by the colon endothelial cells as a source of energy.

The green peel color reflects its high chlorophyll contents (roughly 70). The peels are also high in carotenoids and tannins.

The followings are the health benefits of green bananas:

Increases Satiety

High-fiber contents in green bananas help increase satiety and make you feel full longer, thus they help you eat fewer foods.

In addition, short-chain fatty acids produced by the colonic bacteria via fermentation have been found to increase the solubility of minerals, thus it leads to better mineral absorption into the bloodstream.

Taking lots of processed carbs including high-sugar diet can cause ‘bone scurvy’ (oxidative stress weaken bone matrices made of collagen fibers).

Some foods can cause diarrhea which is believed to disturb good bacteria diversities in the intestines. This, in turn, results in the proliferation of bad bacteria which release toxins that inflame your intestines.

I cannot explain the possible mechanism behind this phenomenon but what I can think of is that the soluble fiber pectin and other starches help slow down chime movement, thus they delay evacuation.

Another possible mechanism is by way of elevated nitric oxide (NO) levels attributed to antioxidant phytonutrients namely tannins, carotenoids, chlorophyll.

It has been horrific to watch all mass shootings in America over the last 8 years. Everyone has been traumatized by the images of carnage week in and week out. Have you noticed these mass shootings are no longer happening in America?

In any political environment, it is important to observe what is actually happening not just what is being said. This is an observation only. Considering all the Machiavellian possibilities. Looking through history, it would be naïve not to question the surge of mass shootings in the Obama era in this context.

Under the Obama Administration, mass shootings were up many times over any previous president. A constant bombardment of horrific incidents involving mass shootings was endured by the public during the last 8 years. It seemed every couple of weeks a deranged person was killing in mass. Hardly a month went by without these scenes being projected through the media. With hyperventilating commentary from mainstream media on how gun rights were to blameThe constant drumbeat of gun control as the only answer to stop the carnage. Obama himself saying this had become routine. Routine indeed as there was a mass shooting on average of about every 3 weeks. Some shootings in clusters and others further apart. Sometimes multiple instances in a row when certain legislation was being pushed. Always used to for political advantage.

Accompanied by ridiculous coverage ready to go by the mainstream media. In many instances, the killers were known to the Intel Agencies like the San Bernardino shooters and the Boston Marathon bombers. Yet the Intel Agencies were called off months before each incident. This has happened many times. Instead of talking about false flags, Operation Gladio, or the Obama justice department protecting their wind up toys from an investigation. Let’s ask a simple question. What happened to all the Obama Era Mass Shootings under the Trump Administration?

We are already well past the longest time without a mass shooting under Obama. Statistically, if these were all organic events, there would have been one by now. Under Obama, there would have been several by now. Sometimes week in and week out. Trump has been in office for 52 days as of the writing of this article. Not one mass shooting or terrorist attack. Canada had a conveniently timed shooting when the temporary travel ban was introduced but nothing in America.

Why hasn’t there been one of these attacks in America since Trump was elected? Perhaps without the lax oversight or outright protection of a corrupt justice department. These wind-up toys can no longer operate in the continental United States. In the most heavily surveilled population on the planet, it would be very difficult to pull off one of these operations if the government were actually intent on stopping them. These types of operations take money and coordination that is very detectable by Intel agencies.

Trump has instructed the Justice Department to focus resources on actual terrorists, not veterans and gun owners. Breaking up and disrupting plans that would have gone through under Obama. Bringing to bear all of the surveillance tools used on the American people to stop actual plots.

 Is this what we are seeing?

Now there is no clear political advantage is to be gained through such acts by the establishment, mainstream media or gun control advocates. If a mass attack were to happen, it would only bolster Trump’s calls for better vetting of immigrants, border security, and 2nd Amendment rights. So they stop. Very interesting. Of course, mass shootings and terror attacks will never completely end. Yet the suspicion is there will be much less under a Trump Administration. Just an observation that many may be thinking themselves.

What your urine says about your health

Your urine can tell you more about your health than just how hydrated you are. Changes in color, smell, appearance, and even frequency can be the result of simple external factors or potentially more serious medical conditions.

Different urine colors and causes

While most people expect to see a familiar yellow hue when they look in the toilet bowl, your urine could change color for a variety of reasons that range from harmless external factors to more serious internal conditions. Some of the colors you may see are:

Transparent: Your urine looks like water, there’s no color to it at all. Not to worry, this is most likely because you’ve been drinking a lot of water recently and are very hydrated. You may want to cut back on your water intake to return your urine to a yellow color, though transparent pee is harmless.

Pale straw: If your urine is the color of pale straw, it means that you are healthy and well-hydrated. This is completely normal and no cause for alarm.

Transparent yellow: Again, you are completely normal, albeit slightly less hydrated than those whose urine is the color of pale straw.

Dark yellow: Everything is fine, but you may want to up your water intake. Darker pee is more concentrated, meaning you’re probably on the verge of dehydration.

Amber or honey: You’ve most likely reached the point of dehydration as your urine is very concentrated. Increase your daily water consumption to lighten your pee and become more hydrated.

Syrup or brown ale: Definitely a more disconcerting color to see, and while it could be due to severe dehydration, this color may also indicate liver disease. Try drinking more water, and if the color doesn’t lighten, seek the advice of your doctor.

Pink or reddish: This can be a scary thing to see, but it may not be as serious as you think. Foods like blueberries, beets, and rhubarb can turn your urine a pink or reddish color, so if you’ve recently eaten one of these foods, it is most likely the culprit. If you haven’t, then the color could be due to blood in the urine and you should seek the advice of your doctor—it may be a symptom of a more serious condition like kidney disease, tumors, a UTI, or issues with the prostate.

Orange: Orange urine can be the result of food dyes working through your system or a lack of water. However, if the hue sticks around even after increasing your water intake, check with your doctor as it may be caused by issues with your liver or bile duct.

Other factors and what they mean

In addition to color, the appearance and smell of your urine, as well as the frequency with which you urinate, may change and indicate potential medical conditions. Some common changes are:

Fatty Liver – You Can Reverse It Naturally

NASH is characterized by greater fat accumulation and inflammation leading to liver cell damages. As liver cells are repeatedly injured and die off, it can eventually result in fibrosis or scar tissue. NASH greatly increases the risk of cirrhosis (advanced scarring of the liver) and liver cancer.

Causes

Several factors have been determined the possible causes of fatty liver:

Obesity: Obesity involves low-grade inflammation and metabolic syndrome that may promote liver fat storage.

Excess belly fat: Having normal weight with visceral obesity is prone to develop fatty liver.

Insulin resistance: Studies have shown that insulin resistance and high insulin levels (hyperinsulinemia) to increase liver fat storage in people with type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome.

High intake of refined carbs: Refined carb frequent intakes promote liver fat storage, especially when excessive amounts are consumed by overweight or insulin-resistant individuals.

Sugary beverage consumption:  Most soda and energy drinks are high in fructose (simple sugar), which has been shown to cause liver fat storage in children and adults.

Impaired gut health: Leaky gut or other gut health issues caused by an imbalance in the gut microbiota may contribute to NAFLD development.

Drug intakes: Certain drugs taken over long-term can cause steatosis (accumulation of fat in the liver).

Note: Some people can develop NAFLD even without these risk factors. In my opinion, If they take drugs over time, however, this can be the possible cause (most doctors would never admit this).

Fatty Liver Symptoms

Fatty liver symptoms include fatigue and weakness, slight pain or fullness in the right or center abdominal area, elevated levels of liver enzymes (including AST and ALT), elevated insulin levels, and elevated triglyceride levels.

NASH Symptoms

NASH symptoms include loss of appetite, nausea, and vomiting, moderate to severe abdominal pain, and yellowing of eyes and skin.

Treatment

From modern medicine perspective, there’s no cure for fatty liver or NASH. Treatment is usually aimed at reducing or preventing further fatty buildup and addressing underlying risk factors, such as obesity, diabetes, and hyperlipidemia. Key strategies include lifestyle changes, medications (anti-inflammatory drugs), vitamin E, and liver protection.

As for liver protection, Dr. Kathleen Corey, director of the Fatty Liver Disease Clinic at Massachusetts General Hospital suggests avoiding herbal supplements, including those sold for liver health, because she thinks they may be toxic to the liver.

Very funny! But they allow certain types of drugs such as anti-inflammatory to be used.

HOME REMEDY

1.Lose weight and avoid overeating

Stay lean, losing weight if you are overweight, and eating foods in normal portions may help balance lipid profile. An imbalanced lipid profile is linked to fatty liver.

2. Cut back on carbs, especially refined carbs

Refined carbs cause metabolic syndrome, one of which is an imbalance in lipid profile that is linked to fatty liver.

Eat nutritious diets and add more fruits and veggies to your diet

Avoid processed foods, charred foods, fried foods especially deep-fried, and avoid food colorings.

Studies have shown these foods may help reverse fatty liver, including monounsaturated fats, whey protein, green tea, and soluble fiber.

3. Avoid drugs

Avoid drugs as they can increase fat storage. See ‘drug intake’ under Causes.

4. Physical activity

Endurance exercise or resistance training performed several times a week have been shown to significantly reduce the amount of fat stored in liver cells, regardless of whether weight loss occurs.

5. Manage stress

Stress, especially chronic stress is linked to inflammation, which may exacerbate the fatty liver condition. Therefore, managing stress should be a top priority of lifestyle changes.

5. Take supplements

Take cordyceps, milk thistle, colloidal silver, and cod liver oil every day as they may be very helpful.

Apple cider vinegar is said to be one of the best remedies for fatty liver disease.

Mandatory Memory Wipe – California Senate Bill No. 86

“Mandatory Memory Wipe”

SACRAMENTO, CALIF. – State Senator Richard Pan, (D), architect of California’s notorious SB-277, (mandatory school vaccination), today proposed SB-86, which calls for mandatory erasure of all painful “memories, thoughts, and emotions” from the memory banks of all school age children.

Proponents of the bill seek to protect children.  But critics, who dub it the “mandatory memory wipe,” believe it’s a diabolical scheme to plunge society farther into the more dimly lit regions of the darkside.  Many believe the radical procedure is unreasonably dangerous.

SB-86 Summary

If it becomes law, SB-86 will require: “Mandatory elimination, eradication, and removal of all brain matter that may contain painful memories, thoughts, or emotions that might cause potential harm to children.”  Ironically, in popular jargon, the term “to 86” something means to eliminate, eradicate, or remove it.

No Opt-Out – No Exemption – No Informed Consent 

The bill does not allow for children to opt-out of the procedure, except for the children of State lawmakers and judges who may opt-out.  The bill recognizes no medical exemptions.

Under the bill, the actual “wiping” procedure is deemed to be a “non-medical” event, and therefore, informed consent is not required – nor is a medical license – for the State to administer the “wipe.”

Similarities to Orwell’s 1984

Critics are quick to remark that SB-86 feels a bit like Orwell’s Nineteen Eighty-Four, in which the protagonist, Mr. Smith, works at the government’s propaganda agency, the Ministry of Truth, which they humorously call “Minitrue.”  Mr. Smith’s job is to re-write newspaper articles – so they conform to the current political landscape.  “Who controls the past controls the future.”

When Facts Cease to Exist

In a future world where nobody remembers that Abraham Lincoln freed the slaves or that George Washington chopped down the cherry tree, then factually speaking, these events never occurred.  They cease to exist.

How diet relates to disease

In Hawaii, as well as in the contiguous United States, flesh is consumed n excess. The result of this is that obesity, diabetes, heart disease, constipation, and cancer are extremely prevalent.

A study at the Harvard School of Public Health, published in the March 2012 Archives of Internal Medicine, found that red meat, in particular, is associated with an increased risk of total, cardiovascular, and cancer mortality. If you think that poultry and fish are any better, that will be dealt with later in this article.

I was recently talking about this issue with a retired emergency room physician that worked in that capacity for 30 some odd years. He said that all his patients were flesh-eaters. He further stated that the excess protein from the animal products puts stress on the kidneys and is connected to osteoporosis, acid reflux, obesity, plaque build-up in the arteries, high serum cholesterol, high blood pressure, arthritis, and an increased risk of colon and breast cancer.

That same report from Harvard found that replacing just one serving of flesh with one serving of a healthy protein source was associated with a lower mortality risk. And what could that healthy protein source be? How about beans, legumes, whole grains, potatoes, and vegetables for openers?

More than 60 million pounds of beef, pork, chicken and turkey products were recalled in 2011 for contamination with Listeria, E. Coli, and salmonella, according to the USDA.

Locally, in Honolulu alone, one flesh distributor recalled over 4,000 pounds of ground beef that had been distributed to Oahu restaurants. And this was just for the month of October 2012.

Between high school and college I had a part-time job working as a delivery guy for a butcher in Newark. The butcher knew that I liked to eat ground beef so he gave me a list of restaurants not to order hamburgers at. Why, you ask? Because when he filled orders for certain restaurants, he ground up all the fat pieces and added some liver to it to give it a red color. Thank God he liked me. That was in 1957.

In a related health threat, disease-causing bacteria have developed a resistance to the antibiotics routinely fed to farm animals (70 percent of all antibiotics used in the good ol’ U S of A are used in livestock).

In May 2011, a lawsuit filed by the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI), and the Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS), among others, sought to curb this practice, alleging that livestock producers have used penicillin and tetracycline in feed for more than 30 years routinely, rather than to treat illnesses.

In 2012, the court ruled that the U.S. Fraud and Drug Administration (FDA) will have to address this issue by stating: “Research has shown that the use of antibiotics in livestock leads to the development of antibiotic-resistant bacteria that can be, and has been, transferred from animal; to humans through direct contact, environmental exposure, and the consumption and handling of contaminated meat and poultry products.”
The FDA has appealed the decision. Screw the people and protect big business at all cost!

Recent evidence has emerged linking bacteria from poultry to a growing number of urinary tract infections in women and some men, caused by antibiotic-resistant E. coli. Most of the 8.6 billion chickens raised for food in the U.S. each year are routinely fed antibiotics and research released in 2012 by the U.S. Centers for Deceit Control and Procrastination confirms the link between antibiotics in poultry and resistant infection in people.

Duh. What do you expect when poultry in immersed in a bath of pus, blood, urine, and feces for “cleansing” and the U.S. Department of A**holes (USDA) says it’s ok to sell as long as you cannot see the doo doo through the clear wrap?

After energy production, livestock is the second highest contributor of atmosphere altering gasses.

According to the United Nations, 18 percent of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions come from production, processing, and transportation of flesh and dairy products.

The gas cows pass (methane) is 23 times a more potent greenhouse gas as carbon dioxide.

So, if you skip a hamburger you will save 10,000 liters of water that was required to produce it. If you skip a poultry meal you will save the 90 gallons of water that went into its production and you will not eat doo doo.

As a side note, a vegan, who does not eat flesh or dairy, consumes 600 gallons of water per day LESS than a person on the SAD (Standard American Diet).

Humans were never designed to eat flesh regularly. The human intestine is long and coiled, much like that of plant-eating apes, cows and horses. In days gone by in human evolution, flesh provided more benefit that harm because survival was the issue and not sense gratification. In modern day society where food is not scarce and life is relatively easy, flesh become a serious health hazard.

Take an Eskimo for example. A traditional Arctic Eskimo, living in a subfreezing climate, could expend 6,000 calories a day just to keep warm and hunt for high-fat animal food like walrus, whale and seal. Modern Eskimos, living in heated houses and driving climate-controlled SUVs and still consuming a high-flesh diet have become some of the fattest, sickest people on the planet.

There is a research project going on regarding 96,000 Seventh-day Adventists in all 50 states and Canada to assess their basic vegetarian dietary habits. To date, the researchers have found that the closer people are to being vegetarian, the lower their risk of diabetes, high blood pressure, and metabolic syndrome (a condition that raises your risk for heart disease and stroke).

Some years ago, Dr. T. Colin Campbell, the author of The China Study, was a guest on my radio show. He reviewed the records of 6,500 people living in China over 20 years. He found that the people who ate the most animal-based foods got the most chronic disease. His study also found that plant proteins like wheat and soy did not promote cancer even at high levels of intake. Bear in mind that when he did his study there were no GMOs.

Where do you think all the trash, chemicals and other contaminants that are dumped in into the rivers and streams go? Well, they go into the oceans and affect the fish. And you wonder why pregnant women are told not to eat tuna fish more than twice a month?

Years ago some guy in Cleveland did an experiment. He placed a roll of undeveloped film in the Ohio River. It partially developed. You eat fish; you eat radiation, toxic waste, mercury, and other contaminants. Your choice.

In January of 2012, after spending our tax dollars and taking a vacation in Hawaii, Michelle Obama unveiled federal guidelines requiring school cafeterias to serve more fruits, vegetables and whole grains and less sodium and animal fat.

In March of 2012, that study by the Harvard School of Public Health involving 38,00 men and 84,000 women concluded that one serving of flesh is associated with a 13-20 percent increase in the risk of death from heart disease or cancer.

The American Journal of Preventative Medicine estimates that the prevalence of obesity among American adults will escalate to 42 percent by 2030, with a $ 550 billion increase in medical costs. With Obamacare in effect and medical reimbursements being curtailed, you most certainly do not want to be a part of those statistics. Also, the year 2030 was the year that the Soylent Green factory was in full bloom.

The Humane Society exposed unconscionable atrocities among three pig producers in Oklahoma and a Pennsylvania egg farm (not to be confused with the Penn State nightmare).

And to the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground – everything that has the breath of life in it – I give every green plant for food.” And it was so.”

It’s too bad that the stupidity of the tongue’s endless desire for sense gratification overrides God’s intelligence!
