She also ”raised her voice” at the spouse of a resident even though accusing her of stealing chocolates which had been sent to the resident for his birthday, the NMC was told.
She is also accused of shouting at Ms Tolcher ”carry on nursing” in yet another incident. Neil Jeffs, for the NMC, explained Ms Tolcher had resigned as a consequence of Ms Talbot’s ”unprofessional behaviour” and had subsequently written a letter to Caroline Murphy, the ”responsible individual at the centre” outlining her concerns about Ms Talbot’s behaviour.
A more letter, he stated, from Ms Tolcher to Ms Murphy in December 2011, signed by 22 members of staff at the property, had outlined allegations towards Ms Talbot.
”The letter… involves allegations of continual belittling of employees, personnel feeling intimidated and undermined, professional opinions of staff becoming disregarded to suit the demands of the registrant, workers working underneath a risk of worry and reprisals, a dread of approaching the registrant for suggestions and help and the feeling that any grievances raised were perceived as a personal assault by the registrant,” he stated.
He said directors of the care home’s mother or father firm met to talk about the allegations and Ms Talbot was suspended pending a disciplinary investigation which was to be carried out by Ms Murphy.
Ms Talbot tendered her resignation on December 28 2011, he said, but this was not accepted right away and she was presented a ”cooling off” period which was due to expire on January ten 2012, he advised the NMC.
As Ms Talbot did not contact the home’s operators – Sheval Ltd – by that time, her resignation was accepted with effect from January eleven 2012, he informed the hearing.
Ms Murphy interviewed 28 members of workers ”all of which spoke about the registrant’s unprofessional behaviour”, he mentioned.
”The matter did not proceed to a disciplinary hearing locally since the registrant tendered her resignation but was consequently referred to the NMC,” Mr Jeffs stated.
Ms Talbot has denied all the charges towards her including allegations of acting in an unprofessional method in the direction of workers, behaving abusively, intimidating and undermining employees members.
