Telling the reality on the crisis in A&E | @guardianletters

Your short movies and coverage of the present problems in emergency medicine is timely and welcome (Report, 5 March). The day-to-day challenges facing departments during the Uk are really genuine and not infrequently excessive. The College of Emergency Medicine has been calling attention to the root brings about for a lot of years but with minor good results prior to our presentation to the Commons well being select committee last yr. In the autumn we published a document, 10 priorities for resolving the A&ampE crisis, and subsequently we have observed indicators of significantly-needed progress. We have no agenda other than ensuring that the delivery of emergency care is secure and successful for individuals and sustainable for the medical professionals and nurses functioning in usually heroic circumstances in our A&ampE departments.

• Dr Saleyha Ahsan is carrying out a wonderful public support by informing citizens about what is occurring at Queen’s hospital. Queen’s is heading towards a Mid-Staffs situation except if much more sources are identified. On twenty March Redbridge council will make a decision whether to test if bed closures at King George hospital, as component of the A&ampE closure plan, will lead to a rise in emergency patient deaths at Queen’s. That this kind of a movement needs debating shows how fragile our NHS is these days.

• Dr Ahsan fairly suggests improved earlier care in the community would ease the burden on hard pressed A&ampE departments. But what or who is going to ease the burden on challenging-pressed neighborhood care teams?
